Seed Bombs: The Newest Indian Wedding Favours For Eco-friendly Couples!

BY Latha Sunadh | 01 May, 2018 | 2007 views | 2 min read

Well, it's tough to really have that pure, eco-friendly wedding. But many couples we know are now looking at tiny inclusions that can help them make that leap into the eco-space. Because really, we need to do what we can, in our own small way to keep things going. And what more than these cute seed bombs to add some fun to your wedding favors?

But first, what's the fuss about seed bombs?

It's a tiny technique where you can easily plant trees by using organic seed balls and putting them in the ground. Seeds are mixed with mud and cow dung and are made into little balls. Sort of like laddoos and then you can plant them as is. Shaadi ka laddoo of a different sort.

This one's a DIY idea because it's totally do-able, easy to procure and gives you the satisfaction as well.

Which seeds work well?

We heard that the simplest ones are the best - try lemons or even herbs like cumin, coriander, and mustard - something from the spice rack. Everyone advises that we stick to local plants, ones that thrive in your region so please don't go exotic.

How to make a seed bomb?

Select the seeds of your choice, make sure you wash them. Next comes the drying process and do note that though we put them out to dry - they should not be too dry. So instead of a terrace, use a window sill to dry them out. Then, you can store them in an airtight container and keep them till you craft these bombs. Then, mix them with 3/4th mud and 1/4th cow dung, craft them into balls. Replace cow dung with other forms of organic compost and then dry them out. And remember, they have to partially embedded not fully - into the ground. And with rain, they will grow. Simple as that! You can grind seed paper in different colours and make them work too - they'll look pretty in a bag to take home!
