WMG-Approved Sangeet Entertainment Ideas #ForTheWin! (Including Karaoke!)

BY The WMG Bride | 22 Feb, 2016 | 10393 views | 4 min read

Sangeet ceremony is the most exciting event because it is as extravagant an affair as the wedding itself. A lot goes into making it absolutely unforgettable! Now, while some guests actively participate in the revelry, some prefer being spectators. And so, it becomes important that you keep them not just involved, but entertained. 922435_636952296322031_41816761_o

1. Sufi Night

Go Sufi on your sangeet with Arabian decor, sheeshas and by hiring a live singer. You can even have a whole Arabian Night theme to compliment your Sufi night. Even a funny sufi show with fun lines will do. If you have the moolah then nothing is better than the Manganiyars who do some folk music too.

2. Dancebreaker Game

Now this one’s a real icebreaker. The purpose of this game is to get members from both the sides to ease out, have fun and break away from all the awkwardness! All you need is a bunch of blue and pink balloons. Make little chits with names of the boy's family members and put one chit each in the blue balloons. Do the same for the girl’s family with the pink balloons. The MC calls out one person from the boy's side to pick out a pink balloon, burst it and read out the name on the chit. And now these two have to shake a leg with each other. The game continues with either side picking out balloons and breaking into a jig with their new-found family!

3. Karaoke

If they can sing in the bathroom, they can sing on stage for an audience! Get everyone to make the most of the opportunity to feel like a celebrity. The shy relatives can be asked to sing as backup vocals or chorus, and contribute in keeping the craziness quotient at an all-time high! If you crave interactivity between your guests and you, Karaoke is the best way to break the ice. All you need to do is, go get a Karaoke system and have an anchor to host the entire event. There is no better entertainment that the guests doing it themselves! bbb2

4. Flash Mobs

This one needs a lot of planning, but flash mobs are totally in and a super hit concept. It also breaks the barrier of age and dancing skills, allowing everyone to be included in this triage of fun!

5. Dubsmash Face-Offs

You’ll need super confident people from both the sides to pull this off. Get people from each side to act out the same Dubs. The audience decides the winners.

6. Awards Night

Face it, people! We have all grown up watching Filmfare award nights, Oscars and Grammys! Arrange for some trophies and decide some incredibly fun categories. Do not just give away the award… instead, nominate a few people in each category to build suspense as to who actually is going to win it!

7. Crash the Sangeet with Fake Police Flash mob

Have actors dressed in police uniforms 'crash' your party at 12.00 am. While your guests wonder what is going on, they break into a song and dance routine much to the delight of everyone around

8. Seeti Maaro

Put whistles on the table and have the guests cheer for each sides performances with their seetis. Get cute colored ones each for the boys and girls side. 9. Dandiya Raas and Garba If you are a Gujju or even if you aren’t- a total traditional dandiya night is a superb idea. Guests get involved, it's high on energy plus it's fun. The perfect combination of an entertaining sangeet event! Making-of-Punjabi-Wedding-song060214182052906_1080x600

10. Tanoura Dancers

Ever been to a Desert Safari and seen the amazing Tanoura dancers with lit up skirts who look like they are live spinning tops lit up in bulbs? Tanoura dancers are fabulous entertainers and unlike other dancers who may not be appropriate in front of family, Tanoura dancers are family approved! 11. Grafitti Wall Super easy to organise. Just get a large canvas and stack some sketch pens and glitter in front, let your guests have a ball dressing this wall up. A cool tip might be to use glow in the dark markers so that your party get a more hip hop club feel
