Okay, this is going to be long but I promise it’s 100% accurate and real. The experience of planning a big fat Indian wedding is overwhelming when you’re in the motherland, so imagine how much worse it is living on another continent with dead opposite timezones! When my (now) husband and I were trying to narrow down vendors to shoot our January 2020 wedding (pre-COVID, luckily), we came across Focus Wala’s portfolio. Their trailers and pictures seemed magical; so I reached out and met Ridhaan for a briefing when I visited in November. He brought an album of their work, outlined all their services and assured me of their team’s promptness and enthusiasm; I was sold. We booked the candid + traditional photo & video package for three days (sangeeth/mehendi, reception, and wedding ceremony). Let me just say, booking them was THE BEST DECISION and investment we made throughout the wedding (aside from deciding to get married, lol). Ridhaan and his team of six were kind, courteous, understanding, soft-spoken, reassuring, SO PATIENT, enthusiastic, and absolutely wonderful in ensuring our specifications were met. From the get go, they knew what kind of natural lighting to leverage, how to guide us to pose comfortably without feeling too self-conscious, and to just take the most glamorous but genuine, posed and candid shots we could’ve asked for. There’s no excessive editing at all; instead, they skilfully capture expressions and moments using mostly natural and some artificial light, excellent angles, and subtle enhancements of colour/light. The outcome is FABULOUS: you can see every moist eye in the room, every little detail, all the vivid colours without overexposed, over-contrasted editing like Photoshop puked on it, and it makes your heart brim with joy. And I haven’t even come to the videos! Ohmygod the videos. Their trailer for us was short and sweet as promised, but their choice of music, the editing, the perfect little clips of people speaking they included at the right time... everything had me in happy tears. When we received all the traditional videos and the full-length candid video, I was floored! Not going to lie - I cried like a baby. Literally, sobbed from emotion and joy. Everything was perfect. My parents, their friends, and our friends and anyone we show the videos and pics to can’t stop complimenting the excellent craftsmanship. To say they are the epitome of professional is an understatement - you would be remiss to overlook them as vendors for your wedding. Not once did we have to remind them about anything; in fact, they had the tough task of getting my husband and I to pose for a post-wedding shoot when we were all so tired. Even then, they were so energetic and refused to let up without getting pics, and man, they managed to make us look fabulous in those too! They were always first to arrive and last to leave, remembering to shoot every type of photo/portrait promised within limited timeframes before/after events. Ridhaan and team, Stepan and I (and our families) are extremely grateful for all your hard work and creativity you’ve espoused. Ridhaan is an excellent photographer and has a great team. I got married in a sub-registrar office where the conditions to shoot photographs are not very friendly. Nevertheless he could take great pictures despite the difficult conditions (like varied lighting, lots of crowd, not so great backgrounds etc.) Later we had a reception in ITC Welcome Hotel which had elegant interiors.
