After a lot of research, we finalised Ujjwal Vanvari as our wedding photographer. We came across his profile on wedmegood. I admit it looked very impressive and the feedback was amazing. There's something magical about his work. The photos and the videos were so beautiful and looked no less than a fairy tale. I am from Mumbai. I met Ujjwal during my trek to Chandrashila in Uttarakhand. I was there with a group, and here was a guy trekking all alone with just one more friend and all the camera gear, tent and food all along. I am a hobbyist photographer, seeing him photograph piqued my interest. So, I went upto him and started chatting. Lo and behold, the friendship started there! I loved what he shot, checked out his profile online, took his card and made up my mind, here was a photographer whom I would contact when I'd be marrying my girl. That time, I had no clue I'd be getting married in 2 years. I hired Ujjwal for my pre-wedding shoot. We planned for like 2-3 months (for a 2 day shoot), brainstorming locations, dresses, comfortable poses, pose wishlist, etc. He even suggested a Fairy-tulle skirt designed by his sister, and he brought it to the shoot location. My girlfriend, now wife, still insists on calling Ujjwal for any photography session in any important events. While yes, apart from his photography charges I'd also have to bear his travel expense. I'd be glad to do that extra expenditure, money can be earned, but the memories that the pictures bring are precious and priceless. I absolutely love his style, and the way he lightens up the mood for getting us in uncomfortable poses comfortably. He has the knack of trying new things, new styles, new perspectives to make the pictures more interesting, he'd climb a hill, go knees deep in river, walk through thorny bushes, if it meant getting a good picture. And I also got a surprise from him just recently when I went and met him in his office in Delhi, a coffee table book, small album with our pictures. Ujjwal and his team covered our wedding ceremonies/ functions few years back in February 2017. He covered the pre-wedding shoot, Mehndi, Sangeet + Ring Ceremony, Haldi and Wedding. I got to know about Ujjwal from another photographer that I had approached for our wedding. Since he himself wasn't available on our dates, he recommended Ujjwal. I contacted Ujjwal on e-mail and then he enquired us about the details of the functions (like no. of guests expected, no. of functions planned from bride's/groom's end, what was the kind of work we were looking for - candid/traditional, etc.). After understanding our requirements, Ujjwal sent us his quote. After meeting Ujjwal, we pretty much decided that we were going to hire him. Throughout the process of meeting the client (us), engaging with us, answering our queries, Ujjwal was pro-active, he was attentive, and really gave his 100% to what we wanted. And in places where we weren't too sure, like color schemes, or lighting, locations for the pre-wedding shoot, he came up with suggestions and really helped us out. Ujjwal and his team were a dream to work with. Everyone just made me feel so comfortable. After the first shoot, the pre-wedding shoot, we all became friends and I now consider Ujjwal as a friend. On the haldi day, Ujjwal had gone to shoot the groom's haldi, but his teammates who came to shoot my haldi were so adorable. Really, it was such an emotionally overwhelming day but his teammates treated me like an elder sister, they were patient with me, kept making me smile, kept reminding me to smile. The best part about Ujjwal and his team is that you can be care-free and be yourself. You never know when Ujjwal is clicking, from where he's getting the shot - And he clicks the most beautiful shots. We even got our wedding videos made, and I was least bit involved. The wedding preparations and functions had just left me sooo tired that i was least bothered about what songs were being put in the video - but when it ultimately came out, I was speechless. Mystically, our favourite coke studio song had been put in the video and also this beautiful rustic punjabi song that I had never heard before but it was all so lyrical and poetic. Even now as I think of that moment I have goosebumps. Ujjwal is a professional through and through when it comes to his work. He maintains a perfect professional and personal balance. My experience with Ujjwal taught me that the more a couple opens up to the photographer, the more the photographer is able to capture the emotions well. That's exactly what happened with Ujjwal, from the pre-wedding shoot to the wedding day, he'd known our friends and family and (from taking bites for the video), so the wedding day he knew exactly what moments to capture, what really mattered for us. Ujjwal covered my best friend’s wedding in 2015 and that’s how I was introduced to him. He also covered the wedding of my partner’s friend so was familiar to him too! He was very easy going, got along famously with everyone and became a friend. So, when I got married in 2017, he was obviously our choice of photographer. My partner and I hired his team for two days covering a multitude of functions including Sangeet, Baraat and the Phere. We also asked them to do traditional photography in addition to candid (which is Ujjwal’s forte) to avoid clashes and because I knew they would be respectful in taking posed photographs as opposed to being rude that typically traditional photographers tend to be in small towns (Mathura in our case). He was professional and the communication during finalising stuff was excellent. Ujjwal and his team were punctual in showing up to the wedding, and were on top of things during the two days they were with us- staying up till wee hours of the next morning on the second day when things got delayed. The team was super friendly, got chatty with everyone including my family and made everyone feel comfortable around them. The result- stunning photographs, that, to be honest, make the wedding look a lot less stressful than it actually was! The traditional video is classy, not cheesy, and the traditional photographs fantastic. The candid shots take the cake however and we are very glad we hired Ujjwal and his team! During the final output- that is, printing of albums and wedding highlights and video, he made sure that we liked the end product and took our inputs over everything. He covered our candid wedding photography, a couple of years ago. That was his first time covering a Bengali wedding, and he went out of his way to actually do his homework and learn about the entire ritual sequences of a typical Bengali wedding. In fact he was so proactive, he was the one setting up calls with us; trying to gather as much information before the D day so that he doesn't miss the important moments. We were very afraid in hiring a pro-photographer but with the Ujjwal's provided services we are completely satisfied and really really recommend to our relatives and friends. Ujjwal is a wonderful photographer that we would not hesitate to recommend to any one. My husband and I were initially very worried about our wedding photos and how they'd turn out as we are both not the most comfortable in front of a camera. Until we met Ujjwal . He made us so comfortable and was the most perfect photographer. He managed to capture the perfect amount of staged and candid photos and even included some very funny ones that sum up our relationship perfectly.
