A Sikh Wedding In The Hills With The Couple In A Royal Ensemble

BY Aakanksha | 06 Sep, 2019 | 15945 views | 4 min read

When we saw Savina, and her sisters Anisha and Raina coordinating their looks for Savina's weddings so effortlessly, Savina's bridal looks caught our eye and refused to leave our minds. To say Savina looked flawless is an understatement. She looked like a princess in a flowy lehenga on her Sangeet and rocked the Royal look on her wedding day in an exquisite manner. DJ coordinated with her perfectly and the couple looked absolutely ethereal. Amrit Photography did a stellar job in capturing this wedding in the best manner possible.

Meet Savina & DJ

Savina tells us how they met and fell in love, "We met in 2012 at a wedding in San Francisco. Dj (my husband) was travelling around the US from west coast to east coast. He was due to leave the US and return home to the UK but coincidentally he extended his flight and ended up attending the same wedding I was there for with our family. We reconnected after some time and started our long distance relationship."

The Sangeet

The Wedding

From The Bride:

I wanted a modern outdoor wedding for my ceremony, however still wanted to keep the religious aspect. I also wanted a ceremony surrounded by nature. Vancouver, British Columbia is known for its beautiful landscape and mountains so wanted to incorporate all of that into it. Colours were mainly blush tones with lots of green ivy. Our outdoor Sikh wedding took place at Swaneset resort and Country Club.

Vendor Reviews:

Swaneset Bay Resort and Country Club (Wedding Ceremony Venue) - An absolutely breathtaking venue for an outdoor wedding. Surrounded by mountains and greenery, this resort was everything I had wanted. The wedding team at Swaneset was extremely professional and easy to work with. Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (Reception Venue) This venue was unlike any other ballroom we had ever seen. It was fit for royalty with its exquisite architecture and history. The wedding team at Fairmont was also wonderful to work with and the food was absolutely amazing.

Blue Rose Artistry (Sohal Grewal) - she is an extremely talented artist who knew exactly what to create on me after looking at my outfits. She made me feel extremely comfortable throughout the whole process and is the most humble person I know.

Amrit Photography. Oh my goodness, words can not even explain how beautiful our photos came out. Both Amrit and Sundeep really took their time ensuring each picture came out perfect and also made us feel incredibly comfortable whilst being photographed. I do not believe there is any one else better than them in this industry.

Charming Affairs Decor (Wedding Ceremony and Jago Party)- Did an amazing job setting up for our wedding ceremony. We got so many compliments on the outdoor set up and the jago party decorations. Mohani Event Design (Reception Decorations) Pamela is an absolute perfectionist. She knew exactly what she wanted to do for our reception ceremony, which was something out of a fairytale. Everything was beautiful and very well planned.

Bridal Outfits Details - Jago Outfit- I had a custom made outfit designed for my jago ceremony from Delhi. I had wanted something colourful but light so that I could still dance and be comfortable. It came out beautiful, I felt like Princess Jasmine in it. Wedding Outfit- My wedding outfit was custom designed by luxury Pakistani designer, Ali Xeeshan. His team was wonderful to work with, they created an absolute work of art for my wedding day. Ali chose the colours for my outfit which were, pink, sea green, orange, and bright greens and pinks in my dupatta. Reception Outfit- I wore a traditional white lace dress on my reception as I felt it went with the venue. It had a long train and was custom designed in England. I then went and changed into a gold gown bought from Mongas also in England.

Munira Mehndi- Munira is a true artist when it comes to mehndi. I had wanted the Vancouver skyline on one of my arms and the London skyline on the other side and she did an amazing job on it. She took her time with me and ensured I was comfortable.
