A Whimsical Udaipur Wedding Dripping In Haute Couture & Heart!

Who knew a casual introduction by a mutual family friend would lead to the kind of wedding dreams are made of? Devangi and Nikhil’s love story may have started quietly, but their wedding was anything but! Think hand-painted invites, a starry-night Sangeet, custom motifs on everything, and outfits that had fashion lovers collectively gasping. Hosted on Valentine’s Day (because why not?), this celebration was equal parts heart and haute couture- full of surprises, personal touches, and a whole lot of style! Every detail was intentional, every moment felt magical, and yes, the looks absolutely served!
Meet Devangi and Nikhil
Nikhil and I went to the same school but barely knew each other. It wasn’t until a mutual friend—who also happens to be a close family friend of Nikhil’s- formally introduced us that we realised we had found in each other exactly what we were both looking for. One thing led to another, and before we knew it, we were ready to get married—much to our families’ surprise! the bride tells us.
Mehendi
For my Mehendi, I knew it had to be none other than Anamika Khanna—a true artist. Her dreamy and unique silhouettes, adorned with intricate embroidery, felt perfect for a colourful and playful celebration like Mehendi. I chose green, of course—after all, it is Mehendi! I wore a versatile four-piece set that included sharara pants, a super tiny blouse (don’t we all love that!), a side drape, and a cape I casually threw over my arm instead of over the shoulder as a finishing touch. I completed the look with my mother’s jewels—I'm a pearl lover, and they complemented the white threadwork and pearl embellishments on the cape beautifully. A fresh blowout added a breezy vibe and kept the look from feeling overcrowded.
Haldi
For my Haldi, I embraced the quintessential Indian princess look—much to my father’s delight! I chose a gorgeous yellow lehenga from Aum by Ashima and Asit, which struck the perfect balance between dreamy and festive. Bright colours, floral kaleeras, my mother’s payal, and long hair styled with flowers made the whole look come alive. I absolutely loved it.
Sangeet
For our starry-night themed Sangeet, I went all white! I chose a stunning lehenga by Varun and Nidhika—the moment I saw it on the mannequin, I knew it was the one. The lehenga featured geometric cutwork that perfectly matched Nikhil’s Shantanu & Nikhil bandhgala with similar geometric patterns. To highlight the closed neckline and open back, I went with a sleek ponytail and accessorised with diamonds—keeping the look clean and striking.
Wedding
For my wedding look, I wanted something modern yet traditional—much like me. I went with a striking red contemporary saree from Sabyasachi's Mehrauli store, paired with a head veil I now use as a dupatta. It felt truly special. After vetoing pretty much everything everywhere, my best friends helped me realise a saree could be the perfect choice.
A. I can always re-wear it.
B. I love sarees.
C. It’s not a cliché!
Reception
My reception look was hands-down my favourite—a Rahul Mishra saree that had everything I love. It featured motifs from our wedding invite—flora, fauna, and a phoenix blouse. I’ve never seen anything like it. I kept the look elegant and minimal to let the saree speak for itself—and speak it did.
About The Wedding
Our wedding took place on February 14, 2025. To personalise my wedding, I hand-painted my own wedding invites whose motifs were printed on cushion covers used at the mehendi by our decor team. I also personalised my mehendi using motifs inspired by Nikhil and my story, our wedding card motifs as well as our wedding venue elements (I had the entire venue painted on my hand).
About The WedMeGood App
WedMeGood App was my one stop shop for everything I needed in planning my wedding. I found everything I needed in one place without having to spend endless amount of time researching everything from scratch. It is a well-organised space that helped through every step of the way, with the decor and theme inspirations, to vendors to even outfit inspirations as well as to an extent photoshoot ideas. It was great to find a place with consolidated ideas I could put into my wedding.
Vendor Reviews
Makeup Artist: Aanchal Sakhrani
Anchal Sakhrani and her team were wonderful and very pleasant person along with her team to deal with. I wish though that she had taken lesser time than she did, particularly her hair artist Vicky who took endless time to do my hair, leaving me almost no time for my saree draping, photoshoot and everything else.
Photography: The Wedding Files
The team was pleasant to deal with but did not really took all the opportunity to get the best moments when they could. Anything that was not pre-planned or discussed was not captured well. I missed some really amazing moments because of that. They needed to be briefed on everything otherwise it would probably not happen. I also hoped they would take the opportunity to ask her some questions about planning the shoots but it was all left to our device.
Wedding Planning: Conwedd Global
We hired ConWedd Global who I am very pleased with. Medha did an amazing job with the decor on the =very limited briefing we could give her. She came on board barely 3 weeks before the wedding and did an incredible job understanding our taste, budget and themes and put together excellent works. She also surprised me by printing my handpainted wedding invite motifs on the cushion covers that she displayed at our mehendi. She was amazing!
