Jewellery, quite surprisingly, seems to be an afterthought, rather than a priority, when it comes to planning a wedding. Big mistake! It’s the biggest investment you make, so it should be well-thought off. Temple jewelry is an upcoming trend, mainly inspired from gods and temples from the south of India. It gives a bold traditional image of the women, at the same time depicting royalty and respect. With temple jewellery, which is stunning, here are a few tips and tricks!

Measurement - Measure your ideal necklace length, wrist circumference and other surfaces and keep the measurements with you. You can simply use a string to get the exact length. It’s very essential as temple jewellery has a lot of pieces in a variety of lengths. Refer to this list when you are out shopping for your jewellery so that you don’t get fooled. Also this will save a lot of your time, because you won’t waste time resizing your jewellery!

Multiple Pieces - It is useless to buy ornate jewellery that you cannot wear on any other occasion except your wedding. Buy a stunning long piece and a small choker instead of a big one – so you can wear it separately on other occasions too!

Entire Look - While picking your earrings, keep your hairstyle in mind. If you are going to wear your hair down, pick longer earrings. For a bun, choose medium length earrings which will look elegant, but will still not overpower your face.

Interchangeable Jewellery – Pick pieces that can be used interchangeably. Like, a neckpiece as mangtikka or a long neckpiece as kamarbandh.

Make Your Own Heirlooms - By choosing timeless, classic pieces for your wedding jewellery, your jewellery trousseau can be passed down for generations to come. So, opt for classic styles like a gold temple-style necklace, or a simple diamond temple choker and ‘make history.’

Temple Jewellery isn't only gold– Don’t be fooled by the fact that temple jewellery is only in gold. You can buy your temple jewellery pieces incrusted in rubies, emeralds and diamonds too. After all, contrasting jewellery is the trend! You could even add polki strings with temple pendant

Budget Temple Jewellery – If you are a little tight on budget, you can also opt for temple jewellery in silver that is gold plated. Or opt for a mangtikka in silver in case you don’t want to invest in a pure gold mangtikka!

Revamp Jewellery - A lot of times, as a bride you are expected to abide by your mother’s and mother-in-law’s wishes. Their taste may not match yours, to put it mildly. So here’s a simple and effective way to skip the drama – wear one piece of theirs and pick another that will somehow match theirs but will be a the real showstopper. So you can wear their mangtikka but your necklace or their bangles but your earrings.
