Quirky & Classy: Two Sides To This Destination Wedding in Nepal!

BY The WMG Bride | 01 Oct, 2015 | 9614 views | 3 min read

We are used to seeing brides wear floral printed Anushree Reddy outfits to their Sangeet & Mehendi, but a  bride wearing one in a classic red to her wedding is rare. What's even rarer- choosing Nepal for your wedding destination. From quirky origami decor with neon tents at the mehendi to a classy, glamorous reception night, these beautiful moments were captured in all their intensity by The Photo Diary. Psst: we also love all the girly gowns she sported in her other events.

Meet Karuna & Amit

"Amit and I met at a bar through some common friends. We didn’t think we would end up dating, however did become good friends, and started to get to know each other mainly through BBM. One thing lead to another, we went out on a few dates and he finally asked me out. After being together for 3 years, we adopted a little puppy together, which is when we decided to break the news to our families. 5 years later we decided to take the big step" says Karuna.

From The Bride: "Amit and me - we wanted to make sure we have a simple classy wedding which was most importantly a lot of fun. We chose to a destination wedding, because we knew all our guests would then be on “vacation-mode”. We went to a lot of different places before we finally chose Kathmandu, Nepal. He wanted the mountains and I wanted raw nature. Nepal gave us both. We wanted a wedding where our guests not only got to saw a new place, but we wanted to take everyone away from their busy city lives, and give them a calming surrounding. The vision we had for our wedding, was one big banging party in the middle of nature, and quite frankly that’s exactly what we got. In fact we got to have our wedding in the forest with mountains as our scenery, so truly a dream come true." she says happily. "By nature, I am a simple person, don’t go over the top with what I usually wear in terms of clothing or jewellery. I also tend to prefer calm colours and I was eager on making sure who I am comes out in my bridal outfits," she adds. " All of our vendors were great to work with - solution-oriented, quick decisions, helpful, calm during stressful situations. They were as good as family. The catering was All different cuisines were offered, special dishes made. The hotel was amazing when it came to the menu.  My mom went for a personal food tasting with my dad and gave in her comments every single way which were all incorporated. The photographers-The  Photo Diary  were  so great, they captured every single moment, all the important ones. There were no traditional photos at our wedding, only candid ones, which is exactly what I asked for. They were given minimal instructions but they did a fantastic job. They captured Amit’s and my personality perfectly and got in all the awesome moments," says Karuna.
